wow, surprisingly i haven't posted anything yet about my ideas and actions for my major visual arts work... i really thought i did, but apparently not XD

soooo... my plans, my evil plans.

basically, my work consists of a series of videos. They are put in split screen, something like this:

So first the panoramic (at the bottom) video starts. This is a video from an installation. I installed a room full of tv's and gaming stuff like playstations, nintendo's, gameboys etc. also a couch and some seats, an electric drum set, a broken synthesizer, and a self-made roulette ('the roulette of death', ill explain later).

The idea of this video is to show where the higher powers live. My theory (not really but in this artwork) is that we are controlled by higher powers, which are represented by just a bunch of nerdy guys. They control the world and what happens to it. They decide, or play for, how everyone dies and have fun doing it, like a competition. This is also where the roulette of death comes in.
I made a roulette out of an awesome retro frame, and have written some death causes on it. The higher powers then spin it, and turn on one of the tv's where they can actually see what happens to a person that died of that cause (the screen on the top right starts playing whenever the powers push a button on the remote).

But now im off topic. So, the installation again. The nerds are just playing games (a close up shows of someone holding a controller of a playstation, and from that moment the left top screen starts playing, which shows games like GTA, Gunz, Soccom, The Sims, etc...)
But the broken synthesizer and a broken tv show that the higher powers are getting less control over us, as if we are taking our fate in our own hands.

Now, I am going to shoot 5 short videos for the top right screen, the screen that shows the result of the roulette. Now, I am not showing how exactly those people died, i only show the moment between life and death. In this video, The people appear in a white room, not knowing what happened with them, but being haunted by whatever death they have had.

-The first video is a random one, without an obvious death cause, to show randomly through the total video time.
-The second one is of someone who just drowned. This girl is literally falling into the room with a lot of water also falling in the room, together with her. Totally soaked, with make up running out. you can imagine this, i hope, so i dont have to explain too much. The girl is really panicked, not knowing where she is, etc... Im not really sure what she should be haunted by, but so far i am going to put a jar of water in front of a light, so u have the feeling ur under water. any other ideas, please tell me
-The third video is about someone who committed suicide (its actually the sister of the main character in the music video im going to talk about) i actually have no idea how im going to portray this.. please, help? ^^ I'll find something eventually.
-The fourth is about someone who died in war. the soldier is a small, fragile guy who certainly isnt fit for war. theres a lot of fear in his eyes. He gets haunted by the ghosts of dead children or his fellow soldiers.
-The fifth one is about someone who died of an overdose. The person wakes up in the room, but its full of needles sticking up. at the other end of the room are a bunch of pills. she tries to reach them, but stings herself on the needles. kinda being haunted :d idunno, cant think of anything better.


So, finally, the main video, which has been my first and best idea. It appears in the top centre, ofcourse. It is a music video of 'This is how I disappear' from My Chemical Romance.
A girl just died in a car crash, but doesnt know she did. The video starts with her lying on the pavement next to the street. she wakes up, very confused. She decides to ask someone if they have heard or seen something, so she tries to approach a barman. At first, nothing is wrong, but when the barman looks at her, his face changes from normal to covered in dirt. its sort of a metaphor for the ppl being affected by her death. So the barman scares the girl away. There are other encounters, and everytime something like that happens, the girl gets a cut or a bruise, showing that she comes closer and closer to figuring out what has happened to her. She tries to call her sister, who, at first, is concerned, but then suddenly the whole room where the sister is standing in changes, from cheery and bright to empty, dark and full of half packed boxes (yeah i kinda had to do that to my poor room...sniff). The sister gets frightened and hangs up the phone. A couple of other things come in the girls way, but in the end, with a lot of wounds, dirt and ripped clothes, she finds her fiancee. but he also rejects her when he finds out something is deeply wrong. And that is the last thing she could bear. The girl freaks out, yells it out (awesome with the musicXD) and gives up. from that moment there she has a big piece of glass sticking in her stomach. She notices from the huge amount of pain XD, looks at it and yells with the music 'fuuuuuck!!!' and from then on (she knows she is actually dead), it is like she is being pulled back by an invisible force, flying all the way back to her body. Then you finally see that is was a car accident. She is lying on the ground, with all the wounds and such, and the ppl from the car get out and run to her body, etc... fading to black. the end btw i already shot all of this! yay me.
also, to go along with the ideas of the white room, i'll have that girl in the room, with broken glass and car parts.

hmm this is a bit of a long explanation. im sure if i explained it shorter, it would appear much more awesome XD


hmm what else to explain? the whole video is only allowed to take up about 6 minutes if im not mistaken.
The sound you will mostly hear is the music from the main video, but sometimes you can hear a bit of the sound of the other videos coming through, such as yelling by the nerds, the ghosts talking to the soldier, or maybe some of the games on the top left screen..

wow, this journal is getting long and extremely boring. i apologise by stopping riiight... (geez this whole thing took me like 2 hours to write...) Now!
